Asen's Fortress

Distance from the village of Orehovo:

🚗 By car to Asenovgrad: ~35km (~45min), then → the fortress – another 5km (~10min)

🚶‍♂️ On foot from Orekhovo to the fortress: about 4–5 hours on a marked/black trail (~40km approximately on bicycle paths)

The second most important monastery in Bulgaria (founded in 1083) – an architectural and spiritual landmark.

Red Wall Reserve

Distance from the village of Orehovo:

🚗 By car: ~25–30km (via the path to the waterfalls near Bachkovo/Chervenata Stena)

🚶‍♂️ On foot: about 17km (~4–5h) along the eco-trail passing through the Slivodolsko Padalo waterfall and the Martsiganitsa hut 

The Red Wall is the largest biosphere reserve in the Rhodope Mountains (3029ha), home to the Venus slipper and characteristic rock phenomena

Martsiganitsa hut

Distance from the village of Orehovo:

🚗 By car: ~30km (via Bachkovo/Assenovgrad)
🚶‍♂️ On foot: part of a route ~17km (~4–5h) from Orekhovo, through Slivodolsko Padalo to the Chervenata Stena reserve 

A mountain hut in the Western Rhodopes, a frequent stop on eco-trails – a good base for observation and overnight stay.

Tsirikova Church area

Distance from the village of Orehovo:

🚗 By car to Kabata hut: ~8km (~15min), then

🚶‍♂️ On foot: ~1.5km (~15min) to the chapel on the peak of Tsirikova Church (1738m) 

The place has the "St. Spirit" chapel and a picturesque canyon - panoramic views and a religious spirit.

Kabata's house

Distance from the village of Orehovo:

🚶‍♂️ On foot: ~7.9km (~3h) - route Orehovo → Kabata

🚗 By car for winter conditions: ~30km via Asenovgrad/Bachkovo and road → approach to the hut (~4 hours walking in snow) 

Located on a meadow at 1650–1655m, Kabata hut is an excellent place for a rest in the Rhodope Mountains and a base for hiking.

Byala Cherkva area

Distance from the village of Orehovo:

🚶‍♂️ On foot: about 13.5km (~3.5–4h) hike to the remains of an ancient White Church (former airport)

🚗 By car: far – as the crow flies, even 159km, but the trek is pedestrian-oriented

Roman road to Persenk hut

🚶‍♂️ On foot: ~7.9km (~3h) - route Orehovo → Kabata
